First week at Culture Lab

Posted by: clare on: January 19, 2012

I really can’t believe I’ve already spent four days in the Culture Lab (where I’m now digitally present as well as physically!) — it’s gone by in a blur. I s’pose part of that’s down to the whirl of impressions: new people, new projects, new technology, not to mention a whole new town and the unsurprising plethora of tasks that accompanies a house move.

My first impressions as an employee pretty much match those I had when I came for an interview: the lab is a big open plan area that fosters an environment that is both friendly and productive all at once. My first official activity was to schedule one-on-one time with everyone in the lab to find out what they do and why — no small task, but certainly worthwhile (and fun!). No wonder there’s such a sense of community.

I’m still adjusting to the climate (brr) and learning about the project, but expect blogging about pervasive technologies, the ambient kitchen and language learning in the not too distant!
